With so many steps in your skincare routine it can be difficult how to layer your skincare. Now that you know what all the skincare terminology is and what it all does, you need to know how layer your skincare and how to use it all.
Having great skin doesn’t come easy. Your morning skincare routine will differ to your evening routine and it also depends on your skin type and what products you are using. As I mentioned in a previous post some products with retinol and other acids should be used only a couple of times a week and you do not always want to layer them with each other. So here is your skincare routine for the morning, one for the evening and even your seven day skincare plan.
To simplify it further, the thinnest products go first, because it makes it easier for them to deliver active ingredients into the skin most efficiently plus it just makes sense! Always remember moisturiser is key to any layering routine because it basically seals serums on your skin making them more effective.
This is a routine that works well for me and I have pretty normal skin. If you have dry, oily or sensitive skin you will need to work out what routine works best for you but just remember which products you should not layer with each other. If you are having a period of breakouts then maybe up with Salicyclic acid just on the areas of concern for a couple of days.
Note to self – do not just switch your current skincare routine overnight. Ease into it slowly over a couple of weeks and introduce one product at a time.
I really hope you found this post useful, I found it so helpful just writing it (and of course printed the schedule to refer to!)
