After discovering the Make up For Ever Smokey exaggerate mascara towards the end of last year, which has actually been my go to night out mascara. I was very pleased to see a new mascara from Make Up For Ever at the Debenhams Summer Press day a couple of months ago. This was introduced as the ultimate volume mascara named the Excessive Lash mascara. Already obsessed with one mascara from the brand I was instantly excited and had high hopes.
The packaging is obviously classic of the brand, monochrome and mainly black. Not over the top fussy which is not a bad thing at all. Obviously I was stunned by the wand size, usually volume lash promising mascaras have a big fat wand. Not this one though, this mascara is all about the formula and the wand is small enough to catch even the tiniest of hairs and giving them a good coating.
So let’s talk about the formula, as well as non smudging and conditioning formulas the Excessive Lash mascara has some of the best qualities of a hairspray. I know what you’re thinking, when you spray hairspray near your eyes it stings like hell but they are not the best qualities of a hairspray. What hairspray is most commonly used for is to ‘hold’ your hair style in place and this is what the Excessive Lash mascara does. The small wand allows you to get right to the root of your lash line without big bristles poking you in the eye, then it cleverly lifts your lashes and gives them a silicone coating. Your lashes then stay lifted and looking voluminous rather than dropping and looking tired as the day goes on.
I am actually loving the smaller wand as it gives you more control on where you apply mascara, also making it easy to apply volume to the lower lashes too. This formula is not sticky at all and it does not clump or flake off. Trust me, I do not tolerate clumping or flaking mascara and they would not get the time of day on this blog! If you are looking for a little more than a drugstore mascara then try this one. I have really enjoyed using it and will continue to do so.
